DAY ONE

Weather was warm and muggy with an occasional spitting of rain. Overecast as a general rule but small periods of sun and a few light breeze.

Brace 1 HiRollin Main Attraction with Robert Ecker and Brown Town Johnny Reb with Jerry Raynor.
The first brace of the day got under way at 8:10 with both dogs strong on breakaway. Point was called at 9 for Main Attraction, who needed a relocation to locate the bird. He went on to have a find at 44 and at 49 with all in order. He ran the course with enthusiasm but was out of pocket on occasion. Johnny Reb had his running shoes on and his ears turned off. He was seen only briefly and was not seen at time..
Chase had a nice ground race with one clean find at 39. Grousewood Reese showed flashy movement as he worked back and forth on the ground and checking in with his handler. He had 5 stylish finds on the back course with one unproductive. Grousewoods Reese

Brace 3 Chasehill Little Bud with John Stolgitis and Marsal's Wild Apache with Robert Ecker.
Bud ran an strong forward race, with a slight absence. He had 5 solid finds at 4, 22, 35, 37 and 44. All were stylish but the last with a slight loss of composure. Apache who was not feeling up to par did not run a consistent race and was not seen at time. He however had an unproductive at 3, backed at 35, and two finds 53 and 54. Although he also had a derby moment.
Tiny showed she was easy to handle and was enjoyable to watch on the ground, she had one clean find at 9 and a divided find at 52. Miss was inconsistent on the ground but still showed nice manners on her finds at 9, 38 and a divide find at 52 and one unproductive.

Jack ran a pleasant race checking in with his handler for direction but suffered lack of manners on his bracemates point. He scored one find and two unproductives. Hoss also ran a pleasing race checking in with his handler and scoring a find at 5 and 40 while handling some pressure from his bracemate with only a slight movement on one of his finds.

Lady scored her first find at 6 and went on to have two more finds and backed at 48. She applied herself well on the course exhibiting an easy repore with her handler. Signature scored two finds and an unproductive. He had a nice race but was out of pocket for a time.

Brace 7 Merritt's Zachery with Terry Merritt and Bob's Miller Sue with Bob Phillips.

Brace 7
Both dogs were found standing at 9 and 14 with all in order. Zachery had another find at 21 and turned on flight and an unproductive at 45. He also suffered some derby moments. After the first two finds Sue was out of pocket for a time and found on point to the front at 45, were she was sent on a good relocation and a bird was produced. Then she suffered an unproductive at 57.

 

DAY TWO

Day two was very different from the first day. A Cold front was moving in and the rain began after the first brace along with cooler weather. The temperature dropped throughout the day. The afternoon it cleared with occasional light rain.

Zachery was found on point at 16 was relocated and couldn't produce a bird. Scored a find at 33 and was found buried at 41 for a find. Hoss scored a find at 12 then scored two more finds and one unproductive. His race was sideways but was hunting hard. Zachery scored two finds and one unproductive.
Brace 2 Elhew Signature with Robert Ecker and Bob's Miller Sue with Bob Phillips Brace 2 was up early with Sue lost from the start and Signature scoring no finds and not making any points with the judges.
Rich and Eric Brace 3 Raynor's Elhew Lady with Jerry Raynor and Neel's One Eyed Jack with Robert Ecker
Jack scored a stylish find at 11 but handler elected to pick up as he was not running preforming up to his abilities. Lady had her running shoes on and her handler called for the tracker at 26.
Brace 4 HiRollin Main Attraction with Robert Ecker and Bob's Elhew Chase with Bob Phillips Brace 4, both dogs were not having their best day on the ground and both dogs were up early with out bird work.
Brown Town Johnny Reb was handling much better putting down a strong forward race, but after not being seen for a few minutes scout called point to the rear were he suffered a lapse in manners and was picked up. Reese scored four well spaced finds showing all of his style ad manners. His race was much stronger than the first day staying to the front and working well with his handler. Brace 6 Cas Tiny with Robert Ecker and Chasehill Little Bud with John Stolgitis Tiny was up at 14 for not pleasing her handler. Bud was enjoying the much cooler weather and showed himself by taking in the course with gusto and scored one nice find at 30.
Apache was not pleasing the handler and was up at 10. Miss Fibber Magee and a find at 17 with a proper relocation. At 40 she was not making an money and was up bringing the stake to a close. Brace 7 Marsal's Wild Apache with Robert Ecker and Miss Fibber Magee with Dennis Beauford
2011 Open Invitational Winners
2011 Open Invitational Champion Grousewoods Reese being posed by his handler Robert Ecker. This setter male is owned by Jack Brobst. The Runner-up Champion is Chasehill's Little Bud being posed by his handler and owner John Stolgitis. Behind the winners is Roger McGuire, judge; Gailen Cooper, Purina Rep.; and J.C.
